Informing early pricing strategy through an interactive economic modelling platform

Snapshot
At a glance
The bespoke, user-friendly app we developed allowed our client to communicate their pricing potential to a wide stakeholder group, enabling them to make data-informed decisions about future evidence generation and launch sequencing.
Client
A major multinational pharmaceutical company
Challenge
The client needed a practical and accessible way to evaluate the pricing potential of an oncology asset using limited early-phase clinical evidence.
Support
We designed a bespoke R Shiny application that transformed complex health economic modelling into an accessible decision support tool.
Outcome
The flexible, interactive and user-friendly pricing tool enabled faster and more informed decision-making using evidence-based pricing information. This enhanced cross-functional discussions and strengthened planning for future evidence generation activities.
The challenge
Turning early evidence into strategic confidence
Our client needed a way of translating early phase clinical data into actionable pricing insights, in a form that was suitable for wide stakeholder engagement, to take their pipeline product forward effectively.
Our approach
Translating technical expertise into accessible and actionable insights
We combined health economic expertise, strategic market access insight, and advanced analytics, to create an intuitive decision-support tool. The app enabled users to explore how changes in clinical outcomes, costs and patient quality of life could influence the economically justifiable price in different markets, identifying key price drivers, informing launch sequencing, and supporting evidence generation planning.
- We developed a tool using R and an associated R Shiny app that allows the user to input costs, comparator information and early clinical outcomes data
- We use advanced economic modelling to estimate country-, indication- and subgroup-specific economically justifiable price ranges and identify key price drivers based on the user inputs
- We incorporated interactive graphical outputs and sensitivity analyses for clearer communication of decision insights.
The outcome
A flexible and interactive pricing decision support tool
Our client gained a practical tool for translating uncertain early-stage evidence into meaningful pricing and reimbursement insights. The user-friendly web-based interface and interactive graphical outputs made complex modelling accessible to broad stakeholder groups.
